Set amidst the magnificent natural environs of the Bellinger River, the unpopulated beaches of the Coffs Coast and Dorrigo’s world heritage forests, the Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival is an event not to be missed. Experience the magic of the Bellinger Valley and join some of Australia’s award winning authors such as Morris Gleitzman, Robert Drewe, Charlotte Wood, Arnold Zable, Alice Pung, Steven Carroll and the ABC’s Richard Glover over three days of inspiring literary events. Held over the last weekend in March, the festival offers something for all ages including readings, panels, forums and feasts, workshops, multimedia, theatre and spoken word performances. You can paddle down the Bellinger River with a poet, go on rainforest walks with local ecologists or catch a wave at Valla Beach with legendary US surfer, Rusty Miller.
